On November 24th, some cryptocurrency users and community members shared on Twitter their efforts to find their WoS app but couldn’t find it or were redirected to competing wallet apps.
However, the WoS app still appears available for download on the Australian App Store and the Australian and Singaporean versions of the Google Play Store at the time of writing.
According to author and podcast host Kevin Rooke, Wallet of Satoshi is a popular Lightning payment platform that has been processing over 1.1 million Lightning payments in November.
Rooke further stated that this would be the “biggest Lightning payment month ever” for the company.
Apple and Wallet of Satoshi have not immediately responded to requests for more detailed information.
Apple imposes a hefty 30% tax on payments made within apps, a tax that they maintain tightly and has been a hurdle for cryptocurrency platforms seeking a presence on the App Store.
On November 17th, a group of disgruntled PayPal Venmo and Block Cash App users collectively filed an antitrust lawsuit against Apple, alleging that the company had entered into anti-competitive agreements with PayPal and Block to restrict the use of cryptocurrency and payments technology on iOS.
