The British Museum, a historical and cultural center in London, is collaborating with The Sandbox, a metaverse game on the Ethereum blockchain, and the French startup LaCollection to release NFTs (Non-Fungible Tokens).
NFTs represent unique digital assets that cannot be replaced and will showcase the extensive and profound collections of the British Museum, offering new immersive experiences for players.
This isn’t the first time the British Museum has ventured into Web3 projects. LaCollection previously introduced three NFT collections in collaboration with the museum. Additionally, a few months ago, the museum auctioned 200 digital postcards featuring works by Japanese artist Katsushika Hokusai, including the renowned piece “The Great Wave off Kanagawa.”
With The Sandbox partnership, the British Museum aims to provide distinctive role-playing experiences, combining modern cultural icons like Snoop Dogg, McDonald’s, Adidas, and Gucci.
Notably, other museums worldwide are also exploring the Web3 space. For instance, the National Museum of Spain recently released NFTs showcasing unique colors by the famous painter Van Gogh.
