According to the announcement, the SPURS fan token will be available through Socios.com, an access and reward platform for fans. Additionally, this token utilizes the Chiliz Chain, a SportFi network with over two million users. This enables Tottenham Hotspur to reach a global audience and interact with nearly 80 sports teams that have adopted the Chiliz Chain.
In addition, the SPURS fan token will come with several new features as part of Tottenham’s digital loyalty program.
“The SPURS fan token will complement the benefits of the current membership program. This collaboration also reflects the club’s ongoing efforts to generate additional recurring revenue to reinvest in its football operations. Importantly, the launch of the fan token marks a significant shift in digital fan engagement for Tottenham.”
The SPURS token will debut in a Fan Token Offering (FTO) on October 4, 2023. Following the FTO, SPURS will be listed on major global exchanges, expanding its accessibility to fans in various strategic markets, including Asia.
According to Alexandre Dreyfus, CEO of Chiliz, the launch of the fan token has made Tottenham the seventh Premier League club to join the growing global sports ecosystem, demonstrating a commitment to innovation and adaptability in volatile market conditions.
In addition to Premier League football clubs, various teams from different leagues, including Juventus, Paris Saint Germain, AC Milan, Sevilla, Atletico, FC Barcelona, Galatasaray, and national teams like Argentina and Italy, have their own fan tokens.
It’s worth noting that since its inception in 2018, Chiliz and Socios have generated over $400 million in revenue for sports teams and leagues.
