Recently, Kraken, one of the major cryptocurrency exchanges in the United States, is considering collaborating with leading blockchain technology companies like Polygon, Matter Labs, Nil Foundation, among others, to deploy its own Layer2 network.
Currently, the exchange has not officially announced the Layer2 project, and all detailed information remains confidential.
“We are always looking to identify and explore new challenges and opportunities in the industry. Regarding the Layer2 project, we cannot disclose detailed information at this time.”

Notably, Kraken has also posted job listings for “Senior Cryptography-Aware Engineer (including ZK technology).” The exchange states that candidates will have the opportunity to “design and implement Layer 2 solutions.”
Additionally, the development team has acknowledged that they have begun researching how to integrate various decentralized protocols and applications more into Kraken.
However, this strategic move will put Kraken in competition with Coinbase, as Coinbase introduced its own Layer2 network called Base in August. With the launch of Layer2, it is highly likely that Kraken will generate additional revenue and expand its current operations and industry position.
