On July 7th, Crypto.com sent legal documents in an effort to recover a faulty transaction amounting to $50,000 and associated costs of over $26,000.
The incident revolves around a transaction involving Georgia James Deutero McJunkins Jr., a Crypto.com user, who was accused of receiving an erroneous deposit of $50,000 to their account on June 24, 2022.
Shortly thereafter, McJunkins transferred this amount to their personal bank account.
Despite Crypto.com’s request for McJunkins to return the funds, the individual refused to comply with the platform.
Crypto.com proceeded to file a complaint, alleging breach of contract and civil theft, in response to the incident.
Crypto.com has received an arbitration ruling, which mandates that McJunkins must repay $76,391.46 to Crypto.com within 30 days from the date of the ruling.
Within this amount, $50,000 represents the actual damages, $1,786.11 is the statutory interest, $21,205.35 is the attorney’s fees, and $3,400 is the arbitrator’s costs.
McJunkins failed to fulfill this obligation, leading the company to seek confirmation from the court through its latest legal filings.
