To show appreciation for active contributors to the oracle ecosystem, Pyth Network has announced its Airdrop Retrospective program.
In this program, Pyth Network plans to airdrop tokens to over 75,000 wallets belonging to community members who have made significant contributions to the oracle network, as well as over 200 dApps across 27 different blockchains that utilize Pyth’s data.
The PYTH tokens allocated for the airdrop are part of the “Community and Launch” category in the project’s existing tokenomics. Specifically, Pyth Network has committed to setting aside 6% of the token supply, which amounts to 600 million PYTH tokens, for distribution to active network participants. This allocation includes 100 million PYTH tokens for dApps, 200 million PYTH tokens for on-chain activities of DeFi participants, and 10 million PYTH tokens for actively engaged community members.
It’s important to note that PYTH tokens are issued as Solana Program Library (SPL) tokens. Therefore, users need to connect their wallets to the Solana blockchain to claim the airdrop.
To check eligibility and claim tokens, users can visit this link: [Airdrop Eligibility Check](https://airdrop.pyth.network/). Please note that the website is not accessible to residents of the United Kingdom and the United States.
The exact date for claiming the tokens has not been determined yet. The project advises the community to stay updated through Pyth’s social media channels for the latest information.
The eligibility criteria for the airdrop include:
1. DeFi Participants: Users who have interacted with dApps that use Pyth Network’s data.
2. Community Members: Users who hold specific roles within the Pyth Network Discord community, own any official Pyth NFTs, or are part of the Ambassador Program.
3. dApps Utilizing Pyth Data: Eligible applications and DAOs will be announced in the near future.
The purpose of the airdrop is to encourage participation in on-chain governance and the transition of Pyth Network to a decentralized and sustainable mainnet. By attracting community involvement in governance, the network aims to become more flexible and user-oriented.
Pyth Network is an oracle project with over 50 major global partners. It provides valuable data sources, integrates with various protocols, AMMs, derivatives platforms, and numerous dApps, all while delivering reliable data with sub-second latency.
