On June 26th, Matter Labs officially launched the ZK Stack toolkit, enabling projects to build their own networks based on the zkSync Era technology.
With the launch of ZK Stack, zkSync is gradually asserting its position and competing strongly with Optimism’s OP Stack and Arbitrum’s Arbitrum Orbit. However, the difference lies in their approach: zkSync aims for Hyperchain with ZK Stack, while Optimism utilizes OP Stack to enhance the Superchain vision.
Matter Labs emphasizes that ZK Stack will support Account Abstraction by default, and certain types of transactions (such as updating oracle price indices) will become more cost-effective with ZK Stack.
The Hyperchain project is expected to officially launch by the end of this year.
Matter Labs has also shared the ZK Credo draft, which outlines the fundamental principles that the network lists and aims to achieve in its product development process.
Optimism has recently announced a rebranding to OP Mainnet, with the goal of transforming the project into a “superchain” network with multiple different Layer 2 solutions.
