Celestia’s modular blockchain has revealed its highly anticipated Genesis airdrop, generating excitement within the cryptocurrency community. With 7,579 eligible developers and 576,653 addresses on the chain, the participation is substantial.
Starting from the first block, eligible participants can claim Celestia’s ITA airdrop until October 17, 2023, 20:00 Beijing time. This airdrop represents a significant allocation of 60 million TIA tokens, amounting to 6% of the entire token supply.
One-third of the Celestia Genesis airdrop, comprising 20 million TIA tokens, has been reserved for 7,579 developers. These include contributors to public goods, critical protocol infrastructure, Ethereum research, and those contributing to the DA module layer, such as Avail, EigenLayer, and Solana.
The remaining two-thirds of the airdrop, also totaling 20 million TIA tokens each, is allocated to 576,653 addresses on the chain. This group consists of the most active users of Ethereum rollups, Cosmos Hub and Osmosis validators, as well as IBC transit parties.
TIA, the native asset of Celestia, plays a significant role in developing the first modular blockchain network. Developers use TIA to ensure data availability through PayForBlobs transactions on the Celestia network. These transactions are the lifeblood of the ecosystem, denominated in TIA and used as fees.
