Recently, the community made an unexpected discovery in the source code of Tesla’s Cybertruck payment page. It revealed numerous references to Dogecoin, mentioned approximately 50 times. This has sparked speculation that Tesla may be considering integrating DOGE as a payment method for the Cybertruck.
What’s intriguing is that, aside from Dogecoin, no other cryptocurrency is mentioned anywhere in Tesla’s code base. This underscores the deep connection between Elon Musk and this meme coin. Musk has consistently shown a fondness for DOGE, actively promoting it on social media platforms. His endorsements have significantly influenced the coin’s price.
Currently, Tesla already allows customers to make purchases using Dogecoin for various products. However, if they proceed with integrating DOGE as a payment method for high-value items like the Cybertruck, it would mark a significant shift for the meme coin.
It’s worth noting that Tesla previously accepted Bitcoin as a payment option but later suspended it due to environmental concerns.
As for Dogecoin, it has shown relatively positive performance in the past 24 hours due to the overall market recovery towards the end of 2023 and recent optimistic news. At the time of writing, DOGE is trading around $0.08, marking a 25% increase in the last 30 days. However, Dogecoin still remains significantly lower, down 88% from its all-time high.
