Recently, OKX has collaborated with Polygon Labs to officially introduce the testnet for X1, a high-performance zkEVM layer2 network built on the Polygon Chain Development Kit (CDK).
The launch of X1, envisioned as OKX’s flagship network, marks a significant milestone and promises to become a gateway connecting over 50 million OKX users to the Polygon and Ethereum communities.
X1 is a layer2 network centered around developers, aiming to boost the development of Web3 by connecting diverse communities in DeFi, businesses, and other industries. X1’s architecture leverages ZK technology to ensure a secure, scalable environment conducive to developing Web3 applications with consumers at the core.
With its inherent compatibility with Ethereum, X1 aims to seamlessly deploy EVM-based dApps, enhance connectivity with various smart contracts, wallets, and tools.
“X1 will be a cornerstone in our efforts to educate and onboard users into the online and Web3 world.” — Jason Lau, Chief Operating Officer of OKX
Jason Lau emphasizes X1’s role in enabling developers to create world-class, user-friendly Web3 applications while maintaining interoperability with other networks.
Similarly, Sandeep Nailwal, co-founder of Polygon, affirms the network’s role in connecting the vast OKX community to the Ethereum ecosystem.
“The X1 network provides developers with a user-friendly platform at an affordable price to create decentralized applications.”
Regarding the Polygon CDK (launched in late August 2023), aside from OKX, several different technology companies and enterprises, including Astar and Canto, are applying DCK technology. This signals a growing trend for Ethereum ZK L2 solutions. X1 stands out as a prominent example of this trend, showcasing the potential of the Polygon CDK technology in promoting Ethereum’s scalability and interoperability.
