Recently, the government agency of Argentina – the Agency for Access to Public Information (AAIP) – has officially initiated an investigation into the Worldcoin project regarding the collection, storage, and usage of customer data. The objective of this investigation is to ensure that the project consistently complies with security and privacy regulations.
Prior to this, the Worldcoin project had garnered attention from government agencies in Germany, France, the UK, and Kenya, as they expressed concerns about safeguarding privacy after the project launched its WLD token. The project aimed to verify user identities through retinal scanning. At that time, over 2 million accounts had registered with Worldcoin, and this number continues to grow, despite warnings issued by various nations.
Amid the concerns raised by these countries, the Worldcoin project has emphasized its commitment to “protecting privacy” for users. They have stated that users’ personal data will be stored in encrypted form to ensure security.
In addition, the leadership of Worldcoin has also pledged to adhere to the regulations of the European Union (EU) and will continue to collaborate closely with relevant regulatory bodies to meet requirements for data protection and customer privacy.
